GSOM Step 11 Meditation

As the Oracle of Delphi had written upon the entrance of
her cave, KNOW THYSELF, the greatest journey of all lies
within.
I've been teaching meditation for years, privately, 10 years
at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, and it's become
an integral part of my life. To sit with others meditating
is an exercise in strength in numbers. If someone is having
difficulty, the higher consciousness around them tends to
lift them up.
As an experiment, we began an online meditation on Wednesday
nights here at 8 pm. While the forum itself is limited, the
awareness is not. Awareness and mind transcend the
limitations of space and time. We sat for a few minutes and
then shared our experiences.
First there was reluctance; some felt their experiences was
too unbelievable to share. Yet, after the first share,
others became willing to express their meditations.
There was an overall sharing of a communion with a Higher
Power, some hearing words, some had visions, and some just
an overwhelming presence of a compassionate love. We sat in
that for some time. There was not judgment in our shares;
just an allowing and opening to whatever we might
experience.
If you haven't tried meditation, give it a try in our small
group. We give simple instructions and if nothing else ;) it
brings a moment of peace just sitting with others.
At the conclusion of our meditation
circle, we include prayers and energies for those who
request them.
Whether it is for support for a journey, energy for healing
during your surgery, or whatever your needs are, please
send
an
e-mail to the
Wellness Circle. Anonymity will be protected.

Online Meditation
If you are wondering about the process of our online meditation, here
are some examples.
"This is very simple
We are going to start with some deep breaths
Letting the chest and the belly expand and contract
And as things come up for us...
We simply observe...
Let them be...
And as we feel our connection to our higher power...
We can let go of those observations
When we are willing...
As we connect to the presence
I will begin meditation with birds chirping...we'll allow
maybe 5 minutes...and then when it is over...the birds will
chirp again."
Zazen Meditation
"Zazen is sitting meditation
Posture is important
As we sit straight...
Breathe deepening ...with belly and chest
We simply observe...
What ever comes up for us...
Allow it to be without attaching to it
And allow our own hp...
To be present...
If we lose our focus...
We just focus on our long deep breaths
Of course, you can open to higher power...
In any way that you know how.
I will use the chirping bird to begin and end."
